Quick Preparation Checklist
Before You Arrive for Drug Testing
Being prepared helps your appointment move more smoothly. Every testing situation is different, so always follow the instructions provided by your employer, agency, school, court, attorney, laboratory, or other requesting organization.
Please Bring:
A current, valid government-issued photo ID
Your testing authorization, chain-of-custody form, donor pass, employer form, laboratory requisition, court order, or other paperwork you were given
The correct employer, school, agency, attorney, court, treatment provider, or organization name
Any appointment confirmation, instructions, or testing-location information
Your payment method if you are responsible for payment
Any required contact information for the person or organization that requested the test
Before Your Appointment
Review your paperwork to confirm the service you need.
Arrive on time, especially if your employer gave you a deadline.
Do not bring another person into the collection area unless Vantage confirms that it is permitted.
Ask your employer, school, agency, attorney, or requesting organization if you are unsure whether the test is DOT, non-DOT, legal, clinical, or another type of service.
Call ahead if you have a special accommodation need, mobility limitation, medical concern related to collection, or question about paperwork.
Do not alter, change, or add anything to a collection container, specimen, or documentation.
Important: Vantage can explain the collection process and appointment requirements, but we cannot decide which test your employer, court, school, attorney, agency, or laboratory requires. Confirm the required test with the requesting party before scheduling.
Test Types
Drug and Alcohol Testing Methods We Coordinate
The test method depends on the instructions you received and the requirements of the organization requesting the test. Do not assume that one test can be substituted for another.
Urine Drug Testing
Urine collection is commonly used for workplace, employer, DOT, legal, court-ordered, and other authorized drug-testing programs. For DOT testing, urine and oral fluid are the authorized drug-testing specimen types; the specific collection method is directed by the employer’s program and applicable federal procedures.
Hair Drug Testing
Hair testing may be requested for selected non-DOT employer, legal, personal, or agency testing needs. The requesting organization determines whether hair testing is acceptable for its purpose.
Nail Drug Testing
Nail testing may be requested for selected non-DOT employer, legal, personal, or agency testing needs. Confirm the required specimen type before your appointment.
Alcohol Testing
Alcohol testing may involve breath alcohol testing or blood-alcohol collection, depending on the testing purpose, requesting organization, legal or clinical requirements, and applicable procedures. Do not eat, drink, smoke, vape, or place anything in your mouth immediately before a breath-alcohol test unless you have been given different instructions by the testing provider.
DOT Testing
DOT testing follows federal procedures and the rules of the applicable transportation agency. DOT-regulated programs may involve the Federal Aviation Administration, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, Federal Railroad Administration, Federal Transit Administration, Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration, or U.S. Coast Guard—depending on the employer and the employee’s safety-sensitive work.transportation+2

Court And Legal Testing
Court-Ordered, Legal & Chain-of-Custody Testing
If you are completing testing for a court, attorney, probation department, treatment provider, child-welfare agency, social-service agency, immigration matter, custody case, or other legal purpose, paperwork and collection procedures are especially important.
Bring all court orders, agency documents, attorney instructions, donor authorization forms, case information, and any laboratory paperwork you received. If you are not sure whether your collection must be chain of custody, call Vantage before your appointment.
A legal or court-related testing appointment may require specific identification, documentation, witnesses, chain-of-custody procedures, payment arrangements, or laboratory instructions. Vantage can coordinate the collection process, but the requesting party determines the required test, reporting recipient, and acceptance criteria.
Results And Reporting
How Drug Test Results Are Reported
Vantage Professional Solutions coordinates collection services. In most cases, the collection site does not interpret results, make employment decisions, provide legal advice, or determine whether a result meets the requirements of an employer, court, school, agency, healthcare facility, or credentialing organization.
Results may be reported to the authorized laboratory, Medical Review Officer, employer, designated employer representative, agency, court, attorney, treatment provider, school, healthcare facility, or other requesting party, depending on the service and authorization.
Please Keep in Mind
The collector cannot tell you whether you “passed” or “failed.”
The collection site cannot change the test ordered by your employer, court, school, or agency.
The collection site cannot provide legal advice or tell you how a court, employer, or agency will use a result.
Result timing varies by test type, laboratory process, required review, documentation, and the requesting organization.
If you need a copy of your results, contact the organization that ordered the test or follow the reporting instructions provided for your service.

Your Questions, Answered
-
Appointments are preferred and guarantee we’re staffed for your test type. Walk-ins accepted when the schedule allows. Call ahead and we’ll tell you what’s open.
-
About 15-25 minutes, assuming you can provide a sample.
-
You’ll wait, and we’ll give you water on a controlled schedule. This is normal and it happens.
-
We can’t collect. Come back with it. Nothing else substitutes.
-
No. Results go to whoever ordered the test. Contact them.
-
Instant screens produce a preliminary result in about five minutes. Laboratory results are typically 24–48 hours; positives take longer because an MRO must speak with you first.
For Employers, Agencies & Programs
Why Employers Switch to Us?
Same-day, on-site, and no scheduling backlog. We come to your workplace.
If you need an employee tested, you need it done now — not in a queue, not during a two-hour window on Tuesdays, and not with a supervisor burning half a shift driving someone across town.
Call 540-300-7445 to set up an account.
-
Not a call center. Not a portal ticket. Not a callback within 48 hours. You call, we answer, and you talk to someone who can schedule you.
The most common thing we hear from new accounts is that their previous provider was fine right up until the day it mattered.
-
Every employee you send out costs two to three hours of paid time, plus mileage, plus the odds they don’t come back for the rest of the shift.
We arrive at your terminal, jobsite, plant, or office and run collections back-to-back. Ten employees tested in the time it takes to send one across town.
-
Retail and national collection sites run drug testing during limited windows — certain hours, certain days, appointment only. That works right up until you have a post-accident situation at 4:30 on a Friday.
We schedule around your operation, including evenings and weekends for off-shift and night crews.
-
You call, we go. Anywhere in the service area.
-
Instant screens read in about five minutes on-site. Negatives are done — your hire starts tomorrow. Only non-negatives go to the lab, so you’re not waiting two days on the ninety-plus percent that come back clean.
Industries We Work With
Transportation & logistics — carriers, freight, last-mile delivery, moving companies, bus and shuttle operators.
Construction & trades — general contractors, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, roofing, excavation. Jobsite collections, and fit testing that pairs with your safety program.
Manufacturing & warehousing — production floors, distribution centers, equipment operators. Shift-aware scheduling so you’re not pulling people off the line at peak.
Healthcare & senior care — hospitals, clinics, skilled nursing, home health. Expanded panels matter here, given medication access.
Staffing agencies — high-volume pre-employment with fast turnaround. A candidate cleared in five minutes is a candidate you can place today.
Government contractors — Drug-Free Workplace Act compliance, documentation formatted for audit.
Security & protective services
Aviation, transit, rail, pipeline, and maritime — Part 40 collections under your agency’s rules.
Services
Rapid on-site screening — up to 16 panels, preliminary result in about five minutes, non-negatives sent for GC/MS or LC/MS-MS confirmation, MRO review available, chain of custody throughout.
Laboratory-confirmed testing — full chain-of-custody collection to a certified laboratory with MRO review.
Non-DOT and company policy programs — pre-employment, random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, return-to-work, periodic, contractor and vendor compliance. Your panel, your cutoffs, your circumstances.
Federally regulated collections — certified collections under 49 CFR Part 40 for FMCSA, FAA, FTA, FRA, PHMSA, and USCG-regulated employers, plus federal contractors under Drug-Free Workplace Act requirements. All six test reasons.
Return-to-duty and follow-up — observed collections performed routinely. We work with SAPs across Virginia and schedule fast, because an employee in the RTD process is usually unpaid and waiting.
Respirator fit testing — OSHA-required qualitative fit testing per 29 CFR 1910.134. N95, half-mask, and full-face. On-site for your whole crew in one visit, records documented for your OSHA file.
For TPAs, Occupational Health Programs & Agencies
We serve as a collection site for third-party administrators, occupational health networks, staffing platforms, and court and probation programs.

Switching Providers
Most of our accounts came from somewhere else, and it’s easier than employers expect.
What it takes: a phone call, your current panel and policy, and a start date. No gap in coverage, nothing to unwind.
What usually prompts it: a post-accident call that went unanswered, a scheduling window that didn’t fit the operation, an invoice with unexplained fees, or a national account where nobody knew the company’s name.
If that’s familiar, call. We’ll tell you honestly whether we’re a better fit — sometimes we aren’t, and we’ll say so.
What You Get as an Account
One point of contact who answers the phone
Same-day scheduling for post-accident and reasonable suspicion
On-site collection anywhere in the service area
Evening and weekend availability for off-shift crews
Results reported to your designated contact promptly and securely
Documentation formatted for audit
Straightforward invoicing — monthly or per collection
Someone who explains the rule instead of quoting it at you
