If your results need to hold up in court, the test has to follow chain of custody. A licensed, neutral collector verifies every participant’s identity with photo ID, photographs each donor, collects the samples in person, seals and documents them, and ships them under an unbroken, tracked paper trail to an AABB-accredited laboratory.

You cannot do this yourself. A home kit — no matter how accurate the lab result — will not be accepted by a judge, because there is no way to prove whose DNA is in the envelope.

How it works:

1. Your petition receives a Request for Evidence (RFE), or your attorney recommends DNA testing to establish a biological relationship.

2. The AABB lab issues a case number and ships collection kits — one to us for the U.S.-based petitioner, one directly to the U.S. Embassy or panel physician abroad for the overseas beneficiary.

3. We collect the U.S. sample in our office or at your location, verify identity, and return the kit sealed.

4. The lab reports results directly to the requesting agency, embassy, or consulate — never to you first.

You have two paths, and the right one depends on what you plan to do with the result.

Private testing answers the question for you alone. You can test with a standard cheek swab or with a discreet sample. Results are confidential and are not reported to any court, agency, or other party. No one has to know you tested.

Legal testing produces a result you can act on — file with the court, challenge a support order, or petition to amend a birth certificate. It requires chain of custody and the participation of the child.
